Eight persons in Tamil Nadu have been arrested while attempting to observe fast to commemorate the death anniversary of Thileepan, an LTTE leader who observed fast and died protesting Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka, in the year 1987, the Hindu reports.
The Tamil activists who sought permission from the police to hold fast in front of Collectorate were denied permission earlier.
Defying the denial of permission the activists attempted to begin the fast and were arrested.
However they were all released in the evening.
