In one raid, some 25 fishermen along with two fishing trawlers engaged in fishing in the seas were arrested by naval craft attached to the Northern Naval Command, on routine patrol.
Another group of 30 fishermen and six fishing trawlers were arrested off Thalai-mannar by naval craft attached to the North Central Naval Command, according to Navy sources.
The arrested fishermen have been handed over to the officials of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Kankasanthurai and Thalai-mannar for further legal action.
